Hi, I'm
Joi Fortson.
I'm a creative problem solver based in Garland, Texas. My work sits at the intersection of clarity, strategy, and community, helping businesses and organizations communicate better and operate more efficiently.
I find satisfaction in untangling complicated processes and turning them into something clean, purposeful, and effective. Whether that is a website that finally reflects the quality of your work, or a system that frees up your team's time, I am here for the problem-solving part.
I currently serve on the board of
CARE University, where I focus on digital communications and strategic outreach for the organization.
What I bring
Skills and expertise
Brand Strategy
Helping organizations define how they communicate and show up consistently across every touchpoint.
Process Design
Identifying what is not working in how a business operates and building something that actually helps them run more efficiently.
Community Outreach
Building authentic connections and programs that bring people in rather than broadcasting at them.
How I work
What guides me
01
Clarity before creativity
A beautiful website that confuses people is not a good website. I always start with what needs to be communicated before deciding how it should look. Strategy drives the design, not the other way around.
02
Process is the product
The way we work together matters as much as what we build. I am direct, organized, and I keep you informed at every stage. No disappearing acts, no surprises at the final reveal.
03
Community is not optional
I believe that doing good work and being invested in your community go together. The organizations I serve and the causes I support are not side projects, they are part of the same intention.
04
Efficiency is a form of respect
Your time and budget are not unlimited. I look for the smartest path to the goal, not the longest one. If something can be done more simply without losing quality, that is always the right call.
Beyond the work
A few other things
Cooking and Baking
I enjoy cooking and even baking for family and friends. I recently released a cookbook for home cooks exploring dairy-free cooking. Food is how I experiment, relax, and bring joy to the people I care about.
Balcony Garden
Spearmint, lavender, oregano, and a strawberry plant. My garden is small-scale, but the satisfaction is mighty. I like growing things, and it turns out that applies to more than plants.
Trying New Things
I love to try new things! I enjoy playing tennis, I can speak a little Japanese, ride a motorcycle, and I love to travel.
